Gultane, Good Gulf, and Gulf No Nox, at Red’s Gulf station on the SE corner of Chase Road and Tireman.

Stiletto shoes, (the ones with the big points on the tips) these shoes were so long, that when you wore them, you had to be careful not to get them hung up on the wiring under the dash when you let the clutch out.  (Seemed that way!)

Filling up the gas tank in my hi-po Fairlane for less than $6.00.

Drive In movies at the Ford Wyoming, Dearborn, Algiers, and Jolly Roger Drive In’s.  And, of course, the dancing hot dogs, pop corn boxes, and French fries.

Schwinn Phantoms and Schwinn Panther bicycles.

An ice cold Coke, from the bright red Vendo 39 Coke machine, for a dime.

Arms “without” tattoos.

Our hang out.  Brunch’s Drive In.  Located on Tireman, just east of Hubbell, across from Anthony Park, in Detroit.  (If anyone has a photo of this drive in, please contact Dana and let him know, I would love to have one).

Borrowing your Dad’s Chevy, and going to Detroit Drag way for a night of drag racing.

Reverbs:  Going over the rail road tracks, rally fast, to see if you could get that weird sounding, “twang”, out of the rear speaker.

Cushman motor scooters, Whizzer motor bikes, and Lambretta’s.

ARC 2500, RCA, and Sears under dash car record players.

Kresge’s, Sam’s department store, Todd’s men’s clothing, and Robert Hall.

Respecting our elders.

The Walled Lake Casino, the Pumpkin, and Edgewater Park.

Paddle boats, tent village, and the dances at the Canteen, at Camp Dearborn on Friday nights.

Nehi, Nesbitt’s, Royal Crown, and Nu Grape, all in heavy glass bottles.  (Returnable for 2 cents)

Mr. Sarcozy at Maples School.  “Bend over and touch your toes!”  You are about to meet the “board of education”.
