Bench Racing in the Off Season

Bench racing in the off season

BENCH RACING…. after hearing this from a number of fellow car buffs, please let me explain. If you read the  words “Bench Racing” describing what is going on at these select cruise locations throughout your area during the cruisin’ off-season.

“Bench Racing” is car buff jargon for cruisers gathering for a B.S. session. Simply sitting around talking cars and those great past experiences, from the 2011 season or anytime dating back to when cars had wood spoke wheels and all of Henry’s autos were offered in any coor as long as your choice was black.

“Bench racing” is enjoying the camaraderie of fellow car buffs,  (guys and gals) not much different than standing beside your vehicle in the garage with a couple friends and going on and on about the amount of taillight fluid you needed to top them off or what a bear installing those NOS fralings turned out to be or maybe the length of time and how many adult beverages it took to rebuild that darned ‘53 Ford’s canootin valve.

Oh well, get the picture? I thought you might. Now remember, when you attend your next “Bench Race” at your favorite (or newly found favorite) cruise location this winter, be sure to load up a lot of stories, memories, some photos and possibly a car part or two.

Relax, order some food or drinks (ask for a cruiser discount, most are offering) have some fun, make new friends and make sure to save me a spot on that bench cause’ I ‘ve got a few good stories (and maybe photos to prove them).

Above all, don’t forget your boots cause’ it’s  probably gonna’ get  pretty deep!
